“I am happy with the program. I am ready to get suggestions from the health post if there is any more conerns regarding leprosy. (Writer: Bisheswor’s son, Bikram).”
In November 2017 I worked with Novartis Foundation and Netherlands Leprosy Relief photographing those affected by leprosy and those involved in their LPEP program - one that aims to prevent leprosy by targeting those in close proximity to those affected with drugs known to act as a profilaxis.
I made polaroids of individuals and asked them or a relative who was present to write something on the polaroids. The choice of what to write was theirs, though I asked them to make it relevant to the work that was going on. Often the person in question was illiterate, so a family member (usually someone young) would write on it on their behalf.
